Meet Marcella

aI created her yesterday.

Inspired by Linda at Robins Egg Blue,

I decided to make a dress form for my retail space.

I have always had a passion for vintage dress forms and I do have one that I love for my daughter's room. I "borrowed" it temporarily for the store until I could complete this one.

Not only are they hard to find--but when you do find one on ebay the price tag is usually $300 and up for anything nice. Then you add shipping, which can be up to $100.00 and you've got a pretty pricey dress form.

I created this one with a brand new dress form. I primed and painted the base. I covered her beautiful form in vintage sheet music ( dig through the bin at St. Vincent de Paul whenever I'm there).

Some of the sheet music had teacher's notes in pencil (I love that!).

I added some art from my favorite Graphics Fairy Karen--the crown, the "belt", and the moth at the small of her back.


Marcella will be heading to the store today. She will look great displaying some jewelry or a pretty scarf or two.

She will also be available for sale. I will accept custom orders for her as well. I think she could be customized with a monogram or different types of art accents.

The possibilities are endless.

This is a great alternative to a very pricey vintage form that still gives us that vintage touch that some of us crave.

Well...since I played "art" all day yesterday, now it's time to get busy on my "to do" list.

I really couldn't get over this off white bread box....Once I cleaned it up it looked so beautiful.

If she doesn't sell in the shop, she will be downright happy in my pantry.


I guess it's official now--I'm a serious "junker" and loving every minute of it!

The Old Schoolhouse

This is the the original schoolhouse down the road a piece from our property.

I had to stop the other day and take some photos.


I have always had a fascination with old buildings and old things.

I haven't been inside yet, but I'm planning on it.

It is currently used as the local 4-H meeting spot.

I dream of renovating a wonderful structure like this one...

Can't you just see the kids walking in these double doors all those years ago?

It Just Had To Come Home With Me

I saw this clock last week in one of my neighboring vendors spaces and fell in love with it!
(you can see it in the previous post before I took it off her shelf).

I told myself that "If it is still there on opening day, I'll buy it".

So I did.

It looks great on our mantel.

The scale and size was perfect.

Now I just hope "die hard" shoppers like me will continue to visit the new consignment space in search of that perfect find.

The Grand Opening

Well...today was the big day!

The Grand Opening of the store and my consignment space.

I felt like I didn't have enough items for sale...but tomorrow is another day and I'll be back to work on more ideas.

I do love the spot we chose and I was very happy to see the parking lot full at 11:00 when the store opened. The owner has done an awesome job of putting this all together. Great job Kyla!
