Reflections During My Walk....

While out on my walk yesterday (this is the beautiful view with new snow on the mountaintops).....

I realized that it has been almost a year since we moved into our home.

The process of building our home was full of choices, compromises and watching our budget.

All in all, I am VERY happy with the decisions we made.

These are definitely some of my favorite things...

My light fixtures from Murray Feiss (Chateau Collection)...

wall sconces...

entry way light

my two chandeliers in the master bedroom

the "just the right size" great room chandelier...

the lanterns with the adorable birds in the gallery

our rustic front door...

with my favorite detail--the speakeasy...

my shutters painted a favorite shade of red

the river rock stones we used for our chimney...

the copper farmhouse sinks...I used one in the guest cottage and also in the house..

I LOVE them....they are constantly changing in their patine (and I wouldn't recommend them for perfectionists for this very reason)...

those are my thoughts......

I am so grateful that we were able to experience building.

a house from the ground up.

It has been three years since we first laid eyes on this property on our first visit here.

What a perfectly beautiful place to live.

I hope your week is going well...

  1. Having had the pleasure of experiencing this with you from the first time you stepped onto this property to finally helping you to move in, I know just how much love went into the whole process. But in the end, it is the people that occupy the building that truly make it a home. You and Mike always make me feel as if it is as much my home as yours, with a healthy dose of love too. Much happiness to you this day, my sister by choice. I miss you and can't wait to see you in a few weeks.

  3. Diane...you were such an IMPORTANT part of this journey for us. Besides all the boxes you lugged and all the help you've given me, I don't know what I would have done without your day to day support and love. You ARE family and we can't wait to have you back here in the cottage in a couple weeks. Can't wait to cut fresh spirng flowers for you bedside table : ) It's been too long!
