Now This Is BIG!

We had a great auction here yesterday.

I wanted to go to see if I could find any pieces for the retail space. There was a 4 hour preview on Friday.

As I was wandering around looking at all the great things, I saw this 12 foot by 14 foot rug. YES, that is VERY big, BUT, my great room is a large space.

I sat at the auction waiting for the rug to come up.

I was betting on the fact that is was way too large for most people's spaces. Well...I told myself I would keep my high bid at $200.00. Once the bidding began there was one lady in front of me bidding with me. I ended up going to $250.00 and the auction was over.

I won!!!!

Although I wasn't exactly LOOKING for a rug, I really wanted to eventually put a large rug in this room. I hadn't even priced them. I can imagine a rug like this new (at this size) would be at least $3000.00 minimum.

I'm happy with the way it looks.

UPDATE: I did a google search and found a very similar rug - it's a Karastan KIrman only smaller for $7000.00).

If you don't already attend auctions in your area--give it a whirl. It's a super fun way to spend a day and maybe pick up a treasure or two. This auction had live online biding as well. So...if you couldn't be at the auction location all day, you could bi from home on your computer.

Gotta love that!
