Jewelry As Art

jewles1
hello friends!

I’m here to share a fun project I completed yesterday.
But first I wanted to talk about Pinterest a bit…

I admit it.  I resisted joining Pinterest at first.  Then I did.  What can I say?  For a creative junkie like myself, this has got to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Right?   The only problem is….it is SO addicting.  I find myself heading there when I should probably be doing other things…

Can you relate?  Well…I found this general idea there and had to incorporate it into my closet.

Confession:  I am NOT the kind of person who consistently removes my fashion jewelry and places it back into the nice little plastic bags that you get when you purchase.

No…that’s not me.  Mine usually goes into a drawer or a box where it can be forgotten.

So…this solution seemed perfect to me.  I get dressed in the closet, I see the jewelry right in front of me displayed in a pretty and fun way.

LOVE IT!

Super simple project.

Here’s what I did:
*Purchased 9 generic old-fashioned clipboards at Staples.
*Painted them off-white
*Cut up some fun fabric with ABC motif I found at the quilting store.
*Added a fun vintage tri to the bottom with loops to hang my earrings.  (I just knew I’d find something to do with that trim eventually).
*I hung the clipboards in a pleasing pattern.
*I added my fun fashion jewelry.
*I smiled.
*Mission accomplished!  No more tangled chains or forgotten favoring pieces.

Such a fun project with such great function.

Now…do I have any time to log into Pinterest for a bit before I get back to work?  LOL!

Have a great day!

The Time Has Come….

017
to put away the autumn decorations and move on to CHRISTMAS!
Before I do, I wanted to post a few photos of our kitchen from last weekend.
We hosted a “main course” here for a progressive dinner.  It was a LOT of fun.

I wanted to share my china hutch décor before it gets replaced with Christmas cheer…
I had fun with white pumpkins and tree silhouettes…

Autumn Cottage

autumn2

We had a spectacular week of weather here in Eastern Washington.
I still have some flowers in bloom since we haven’t had a frost yet (although we are expecting one this week).
It was so beautiful yesterday, I grabbed my camera to capture some of this beauty before it’s gone for the season.

I’ve done a few updates in the cottage over the last few moths.
I have turned the “front room” into a master suite.
I brought in a queen size bed and added some more chairs and a small table.
This is a very cozy room with the fireplace (and a television) to enjoy during those long winter days…
I’m hoping to find a small studio sofa for more comfortable seating.

Thanks to a little help from my friends….
we joined my new cow canvas up with a favorite old window (that used to be on the fireplace mantle).
Now we’ve got these two precious moo-moos peeking through the window.
I couldn’t resist purchasing a coule of vintage cow bells to put on top of the window.

I added a very COZY yo-yo quilt I found at a local antique store to the back wall of the bedroom.
I love the “cocoon” feeling it brings to this space.
I have to share a super simple lampshade update I used….
I picked up a very cute stretchy ivory colored girl’s top at Goodwill.  I knew there would be something I could use the fabric for in the future.
Well..guess what?  All I did was trim it to size and slip it over my drum shade.
An easy peasy inexpensive fun update.
I love those!!

To sum it up….this is a great time to nest as the days (and nights) get chilly.
Thanks for stopping by the cottage…
See you soon!
