Better Than Before With Chalk Paint

P1040659

I love this little round pedestal table that I found at The Farm Chicks show last year.

It ended up being perfect for a small table in front of the wonderful vintage sofa I had recovered.in a fun textured cheetah fabric.

My master bedroom is done in neutral with just small splashes of my favorite shade of blue. When I first saw the Provence Chalk Paint here, I knew this table would be perfect in this shade.

NOTE: I recently ordered some more paint, wax and the special wax brush from Classic Wall Finishes and it was shipped SUPER SONIC FAST. I had it in just a few days and I'm on the opposite coast. I was thrilled since I needed the paint quickly to work on a big project.

Here it is pretty in off-white beforeLink

Now it’s just a little bit BETTER. It adds another small touch of the blue that really works for me in my mostly neutral space.

Little changes can make a big difference.

If you’re thinking about trying this chalk paint, DO IT! You won’t be sorry. On this table I just applied two coats of the Provence and then some of the dark wax.

I love the look.

The One Month Countdown Begins

1297126233855

One month from today we will be in Spokane, WA for the big Farm Chicks Antique Show

I know I haven’t been posting as often as I normally do….Things have been VERY busy.

This is a piece we are bringing to the show. It’s a great old pie safe with TONS of character. It is going to get a new coat of red chalk paint and will be the focal point of our 10 foot x 10 foot space.

We have been busy taking inventory in our storage space and pricing our items for the show. Here’s what the storage area looks like now..

We are stacking up the items that are ready to go and be loaded into the big truck.

We made this sign for our booth displaying the custom dress forms.

We have decided to offer the dress forms at the show for custom order on a lay-away plan.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up with lay-away plans. I think they are great. You get to make a deposit on something you want and pay installments until it’s YOURS!

Great concept for higher ticket items that can be customized.

Here’s the sign we made with an old window we had on hand…

AND there’s still painting going on in the garage Here’s some pieces we are doing in the beautiful Provence color of chalk paint.

I’ll be sure to share the “after” pics with you when they are completed…

Oh…and one more thing….our ADORABLE yardstick coffee table sold today at the store. It has only been in the space for a week or so and it’s already on it’s way to it’s new home.

Here’s one last picture we took of it today with it’s “SOLD” tag.

We’ve gotta do more yard stick projects.

We also did a little sprucing up after a large display shelf sold yesterday. We pulled out the cute rustic white and blue round table.

Moving things around and keeping the “fresh” is important.

I’m so glad you stopped in today and I’ll keep you posted on the preparations for the big show.

It’s quite an undertaking, but I just know that it will be a LOT of fun and a GREAT experience.

RISK equals REWARD. I’ve always believed in those words and this is no different.

Loving Chalk Paint AND A Winner!

158

Let me start this post by saying this: Sometimes you just don’t FEEL l like creating. I guess it’s kind of like a writer’s block thing.

The last couple of weeks I haven’t been feeling too CREATIVE at all. I did make a dress form last week to fulfill an etsy order and I did enjoy the process, BUT, other than that I haven’t done too much I would consider CREATIVE.

WELL…that changed yesterday afternoon. I decided to try out the paint I’ve been waiting for for weeks.

Annie Sloan’s CHALK PAINT.

I took a couple of end tables we picked up at auction a few months ago.

Alright, I didn’t take any BEFORE shots. They were your typical dark wood tables. They are extremely well made and VERY solid. Probably from the 40’s or 50’s.

Nice, but dated.

The great thing about this paint?

No sanding.

No priming.

Just the fun part—PAINTING!

I used a couple coats of the Paris Grey.

It’s a beautiful soft neutral and it really worked nicely on these tables.

Then I applied a coat of the dark wax that you can purchase at chalkpaint.com.

I did a bit of distressing and then applied a second coat of the wax.

As you can see, the finish is definitely aged and worn.

I staged them both in my great room. They look pretty darn good in there.

No, I won’t be keeping them. They will be sold in the store or at The Farm Chicks Show.

I couldn’t resist cutting a few more tulips from the garden to add some pops of color to the new tables.

You’ve just GOT TO GET SOME of this great paint. It goes on so smoothly and distressing so nicely. As you sand, it just sort of “powders” off a layer of paint. Great effect.

I'm linking up to Kelli's Restored It Wednesday.

If you've never stopped by her great blog, you've just got to do it! There's some awesome projects there today.

Tulips From The Garden And A Giveaway

012

Let me start by saying that it doesn’t feel like spring here in Eastern Washington today! It’s still very cold and windy.

I was able to cut a few bouquets of tulips from the garden on Sunday afternoon. I’m so glad I did.

The bright and sunny color has cheered me up. I swear I’m suffering from the seasonal disorder thing the last few weeks.

I’ve got to stay motivated and prepare for the big Farm Chicks Show in just a little over a month.

We are excited about these fun plate stands. We will be bringing several of these to the show. We find a good stash of vintage enamel plates a few weeks ago at the antique mall.

Aren’t they fun?

017

I haven’t had a chance to say a big THANK YOU to all of you who have recently started following me. Over the last several weeks I hit 200 followers and then all the way to 251 followers!

That is really exciting for me and I love having you all stop by and visit.

SO…this sweet domed cake stand in the front with the red base…

I’m going to GIVE IT AWAY to one lucky reader.

How can you enter to win?

It’s easy.

Leave a comment and let me know what you would do with this sweet plate stand.

AND

become a new follower of Starview Sonnet for a second chance to win.

IF you are already a follower, let me know in your comment and you’ll be entered twice in the drawing too!

The winner will be selected next Wednesday, April 27th.

I’m so happy to have you visit here and look forward to getting to know you better.

God luck!
