Spring Color And Girl Talk

123
Hi There!
Well…it’s not really feeling like spring here in Eastern Washington, but I did enjoy a burst of color on Monday.
We have a great group at our church called Girl Talk.  We meet every four to six weeks.  It’s such a great chance for women of all ages to get together and socialize, learn, and grow.
I was approached by the leader to do the table decorations for this event.  We just wanted each woman who attended to feel “special”…Isn’t that what we all really want?
I selected cardstock in a rainbow of spring “Easter Egg” colors and started cutting and rolling paper flowers.
Since our discussion was going to focus on marriage, I decided to make mini “signs” for each centerpiece that read
“Tow Are Better Than One”.

I found these great plastic tumblers at Wal-Mart for the “vases”.
They inspired my color palette and also serve as a gret reusable drinking glass.
I used a medium gauge wire for “stems” and oasis foam to keep the flowers where I wanted them to be.
I filled the tumblers with white beans to hid the oasis.

the gal who was in charge of the refreshments did an absolutely AMAZING job….
Check out this spread of “snacks” for the evening.
Fabulous….right?

At the end of the evening one woman from each table (with a little “ticket” under her chair) took home a bouquet of flowers.
So…while we wait for the sun to come out here and spring to arrive, we will enjoy a little color.
If you haven’t tried these rolled paper flowers yet, give them a try.  Here’s a great tutorial for making them featured in Inspired By Family Magazine.
So glad you popped in for a little color and spring happiness today.

Life Goes Fast….

024
and so did this fun coffee table we put in the store a few days ago…
It started as a nice sturdy yard sale find….
Nice size…not too big…good bones (always important)….
We painted it Old White….added the fun vintage bicycle along with words that ring especially true for me…
“Life Goes Fast”….”Enjoy The Ride”

to add some visual interest and texture, we wrapped some thich twine around the side rails on the bottom of the table..
Lots of fun…right?

Well..somebody fell in love with it and WE LOVE THAT!
The black and white vanity/desk behind it is also gone…
Don’t you love it when someone else falls in love with your creative vision?
Yep, I’m definitely enjoying this ride called life…sprinkled with lots of creative energy.

Vintage Sign Inspiration

017
Hello to you!
The last three weeks has been busy and a ton of fun…
My BFF Diane was here for a visit.  We did what we do best—work on projects (and have a blast doing it)!
Today I want to share a couple signs we completed.

040
We had a whole stash of vintage mirrors that we have removed from dressers and vanities before making them over…
What to do with all of these?  Well, Diane had a super idea..
We removed the mirrors to expose a wonderful large piece of wood in very interesting shapes.
Perfect starting off point for some signs..
We love the way this Western Union turned out.  It’s so graphical and sharp and reminds us all how far our communication devices have come in the last 60 years or so…

019
Who doesn’t have a fond memory of a trip to the beach and a stay at a great motel?
This great sign brings back the time you and your family stayed in a motel and put on your “thongs” (yes, we used to call them that) and walked to the beach.
Wouldn’t this be so much fun to hang in a room for a touch of color and whole lot of whimsy?

The inspiration found in old signs is truly endless….
I love the feeling they bring to a space and plan to make some for my own home too….

Be inspired by the past and give your present a fesh new look.

So glad you came by today.

Getting On Board With The Chevron

010
009
Hi Everyone!
OK…you know how HOT the chevron pattern is in design theses days..

Well.., we decided to incorporate it into this great vintage vanity..

I didn’t do the “before” pics…but if you’ve been to a yard sale lately, you’ve probably seen this girl.  She is a bit tired looking in her faded wood finish…

She’s a little out of date with her functionality..
But, wouldn’t she work out great as a little stand for your mid-size flat screen tv in the center?

It’s so much fun to see these old pieces in a NEW way..Don’t you think?

Thank you so much for stopping in..
Is it spring yet?????

Tootsie B

001 (1024x1024)
One of my favorite things about creating this beautiful forms is hearing the stories of my customers.
This form is named for the business she will soon be an icon for.
My customer and her husband dismantled an entire BARN and then re-assembled it in their town.
They are going to be opening up a wonderful vintage boutique.

This form incorporates some of her favorite treasures…
Hymn book pages..
a vintage white doorknob..
beautiful buttons and lace from her personal collection..
AND, most importantly--
some of her favorite vintage photographs of her loved ones..

047This is such a great way to commemorate her life…
her new business..
what matters most…
I wish her the best of luck as she embarks on her dream..
I was so happy to play a small part in what will be her fabulous business.
Thanks Mary.
I think your customers will love Tootsie B as much as I do.
