Fresh Lemons

I haven’t posted in several days.

It’s not because I haven’t been busy.

I have been creating dress forms for almost a year now.

Thanks to a custom order a few days ago, there is now a beautiful new design available in the Etsy shop.

The customer wanted a yellow and white striped form with clean lines and some vintage lemon graphics.

She wanted to incorporate her shop name.

So….we set out to create a brand new look for the forms.

We did the “flesh” portion with a darker paper bag type paper to crate a little more contrast with the light fabrics.

We used a wonderful tiny print cream fabric as the “base”. The we added two different small print “lemon yellow” prints to create stripes.

We went with the horizontal stripes on the top and the vertical on the bottom.

As we worked, we created patterns that we can use again the next time we do a design like this.

I purchased some wonderful graphics from this terrific Etsy seller. If you are looking for something special, take a look here.

love this little quote that the customer wanted to incorporate into the piece…

a new piece of bling for this special dress form was added.

This is a vintage inspired black and white doorknob (purchased from Hobby Lobby).

I’ve been wanting to incorporate this type of element into the forms and I’m really happy with the way it looks.

This new design can be customized by changing the fabric choices, the art, and the flesh color (lighter or darker).

She is now listed in the Etsy shop.

Creating custom orders for your customers can inspire your own creativity to new levels.

You’ve got to love that.

Thanks for letting us share our newest project.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

The Story Of Your Life Sign And A Lampshade

This sign arrived in the big brown truck yesterday.

I found it at the Old Charm Etsy shop here.

I placed it on my little repurposed desk where I usually sit with my laptop. I just love the sentiment.

After all, isn’t that what we do here? We are writing the stories of our lives and enjoying every minute of it.

and here’s a lampshade re-do I worked on over the last couple days.

Now this is what I love about blogging. I found this post at Tatertots and Jello and just had to give it a try.

So I did.

Don’t you love the way blogs can just inspire you to take on a project like this?

Not bad for my first go around. I will definitely try this technique on another shade. It’s fun and want to try it with a few different shades of the same color next.

Great rainy day project.

Let me know if you decide to try your hand at your own Anthropologie inspired lampshade.

The burlap really worked in our master alongside the fringed burlap panels I have in there.

thanks for stopping by today

Sunday Auction Finds

We spent the day (and most of the night) at the auction yesterday.

Here’s a few things we brought home…

This awesome antique table and six chairs…

Check out the base on this beauty! AMAZING!

this wonderful old tapestry…yes, it’s faded, but, oh so lovely…

This one will stay at my house. It just seems to fit into our European Country House.

a fireplace screen, some side tables, a wonderful mirror, a WWII suitcase and a funky wood pig hat rack.

loving this wonderful quilt we picked up.

you’ve gotta love a good auction for finding treasures.

If you have never attended an auction, do yourself a favor and check it out.

Great entertainment and wonderful hunting.

hope your week is off to a great start my blog friends.

This past week we totally revamped both of the spaces in the store.

If there is anything I’ve learned over this last 10 months, it’s move things around!

Hopefully the new set up and details will help with sales for the end of the month.

Looking good…

Enjoy your weekend friends..
