Look What Popped Up This Morning.....

Our visitors from San Diego, Ed and Paula, left this morning. We had such a nice visit with them. We did lots of wine tasting, cooking, talking, and of course, eating. We had a little dinner party last night with our good friends The Peter's and the Clark's. Delicious cedar planked salmon on the grill, mussells, salad from our garden and roasted corn on the cob. It was so nice to have firends old and new together here in our new home.

We had a fun surprise in our sunflower garden...our very first sunflower blooms (two of them!).

Now we will look forward to Mike's Mom visiting on July 1st.

The Cottage Is Ready...

For Summer Visitors.....

We moved some furniture out and rearranged a bit to make our guests more comfortable. Now you can walk around the footbaord and access the closet! The bedroom is small, but oh so cozy. The french doors can be opened up for stargazing or enjoying the cool morning air.....so relaxing..

The bathroom of the cottage has a wonderful big shower with a fun little chandelier...

The living area and kitchen....

Some fun little touches in the cottage...

We finally moved most of our things out of the cottage and now it is more comfortable and roomy for our friends and family...come and enjoy..

Fueling My Passion For.....

R E D !!!!!!!!!!

I had decided to decorate most of my new house in soft neutrals. I love the calm and serene feeling they create in the home. But, I do love color and one of my favorites is red. I truly believe every room needs a bit of red. Well, on Saturday I decided to pull out most of my red and white treasures and do a grouping in my china hutch. It just seems so summery and all I have to do is add a little navy blue and we are ready for the 4th!

This pop of color in one of my favorite hues has brought such a change to the kitchen. Who knows what will be next.

More Basket Organization...

Now Allison has baskets for her closet. It's amazing how much better they are about putting their clean clothes away when they have these easy to fill baskets. I made a few changes/improvements to the chalkboard labels and I'm really happy with the way they turned out.

I Can't Take Any Credit For This...

The last two days Mike has been putting in this flagstone walkway in front of the house. He planted Irish moss in between the stones and it turned out great. We used this same stone as a walkway up to the cottage. You can see our sunflowers growing taller in the background and also a new patch of lawn Mike just seeded last week.

The Treasures I Brought Home from The Farm Chicks Antique Show...

I found this great scale....it is in really good condition and don't these birds look adorable on top of it? They are a special gift from Vesna : ). I just love them!

And Allison has been wanting one of these and bought it at the show. It looks great in her room (she has a love of vintage, just like me).

Oh, and this wonderful white bowl made in England...not sure what I will do with it yet. BUT, I do believe in buying what you love and you will always find a place for it.

I really liked the shape and patina of this old thermos...

I had been searching ebay for some of these and found them there! I was so excited!
